In a recent press release Brenda Reigle, Executive Director of PUCA, revered Mr. Linde for his commitment to the trade.

“Eric Linde has devoted much of his lifetime to improving the professionalism of the utility contracting industry and to bringing respect to its members. The Lifetime Achievement Award is one small way the industry can recognize his dedication and leadership.”

Along with his duties at Leeward Construction, Mr. Linde served two terms as the president of PUCA.  Additionally, he has acted as a member of the Board of Directors for both PUCA and NUCA (National Utility Contractor’s Association.)

VALLEY VIEW BUSINESS PARK; A LANDMARK PROJECT

As the teeth of the excavator ripped through the dirt on October 1, the Valley View Business Park officially became a historic project for Leeward Construction.  The PennDOT contract for $16,894,770.99 is the largest agreement to-date between the company and the state of Pennsylvania.

Located in the Borough of Jessup, Lackawanna County, the venture includes earthwork, stormwater pipe and inlets, a cast-in-place concrete box culvert, as well as facilities for the Pennsylvania American Water Company, trench excavation for UGI gas lines, and sanitary sewer lines.

MONTAGE MOUNTAIN ROAD WIDENING AWARDED TO LEEWARD

Montage Mountain Road in Lackawanna County has long been known as a traffic nightmare.  To remedy this situation, PennDOT accepted bids on September 23, 2008 to widen a section of the road that narrows causing congestion; especially during the summer months.

With a bid of $ 789,570.81, Leeward was named the apparent low-bidder and subsequently awarded the contract on October 7th.   At the end of the contractual period, two lanes of travel will be open from Davis Street to Glenmaura National Boulevard to accommodate the heavy traffic.
