Widening roads provides the security of safe travel; this project mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation was designed with safety in mind. With portions located in both Pike and Lackawanna Counties, this task includes the removal of two dangerous curves; one on State Route 739, the other State Route 434. To improve visibility, State Route 434 will be realigned at a perpendicular angle with State Route 6. Other responsibilities consist of the installation of guide rail, erosion control matting, rock benching and slope lining as well as various drainage improvements. In total, this widening process spans across 4.78 miles in two counties.
