Pipe Laborer

Description

Pipe Laborers are required to have knowledge of how various piping systems and equipment are installed and operate. Pipe Laborers make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the systems and equipment worked on are in hard-to-reach places. Pipe Laborer work is performed outside in all types of environmental conditions. This type of work requires to walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out and above shoulder, climb, kneel bend, twist, and push/pull. Pipe Laborers will frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Must have skill in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Experience with installing and repairing water lines, sewer lines, water meters, and manholes.
  • Assist with the construction of pipe sites, including digging trenches, ensuring proper fittings, and reconditioning of old pipe.
  • Assist with testing systems and equipment after completing work for proper circulation, flow, pressure, and leak-free joints.
  • Cleaning and preparing construction sites to eliminate hazards.
  • Capable of working at a sustained pace and produce quality work. Must have the ability to have a flexible work schedule, including working overtime as needed.
  • Must be accountable for conduct and have excellent attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
