Concrete Laborer

Description

A concrete laborer is an individual who is specialized in building structures from concrete materials and is responsible for building forms, pouring concrete, and spreading and smoothing concrete with various relevant tools.

 

Responsibilities

  • Build wooden forms
  • Set, brace and strip wood and steel forms
  • Place and finish concrete
  • Drill holes for and position reinforcing rods
  • Ensure safe working environment
  • Perform manual labor as needed
  • Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment
  • Travel and arrive for starting time at various jobsite locations
  • Blueprint reading for concrete structures
  • Safe operation of hand and power tools used to build form work
  • Materials used to construct forms
  • Assembly and bracing of modular form systems such as EFCO and SYMONS
  • Building form components on site to construct structure components including footings, columns, pier caps, deck overhang and parapets
  • Setting up and operating mechanized finishing equipment such as BIDWELL
  • All methods of pouring concrete including placement by truck, crane & bucket, conveyor and pump
  • Layout and placement of reinforcing rods
  • Learn and follow Leeward Construction policies and procedures
  • Work with and without direct supervision
  • Must have basic math skills

Qualifications

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds. Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area.
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.
  • Required to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines.
  • Capacity to provide and follow direction.
  • Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure.
  • Safe operation of hand tools.
  • Ability to work extended hours, as required including night work and Saturdays.
  • Travel to jobsites within 70 miles of main office in Honesdale, PA.
  • Pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is preferred
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
