Asphalt Laborers are involved in the construction and repair of roads, highways, and other paved surfaces. They work with heavy machinery, tools, and equipment to apply asphalt and ensure the quality and longevity of these surfaces.
Responsibilities
Shoveling and raking stone and asphalt to grade
Using handheld compaction tools
Matching and finishing asphalt paving joints evenly
Assisting the Screed Operator with maintaining the grade and screed extensions
Qualifications
Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Able to lift 50 pounds. Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area.
Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.
Required to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines.
Capacity to provide and follow direction.
Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure.
Safe operation of hand tools.
Ability to work extended hours, as required including night work and Saturdays.
Travel to jobsites within 70 miles of main office in Honesdale, PA.
Pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is preferred
Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
