A Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and cranes.
Responsibilities
Inspecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues with heavy equipment
Repairing and maintaining engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical components
Performing preventative maintenance on heavy equipment to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment life.
Ordering and replacing damaged or worn parts.
Ensuring all repairs and maintenance are done in compliance with safety regulations and standards.
Keeping accurate records of all repairs and maintenance done on heavy equipment
Communicating with supervisors and other mechanics regarding equipment issues and repair solutions
Hydraulic, Diesel & Electrical Experience a plus
Qualifications
5 years’ experience working on construction equipment and heavy equipment such as backhoes, dozers, excavators & haul trucks.
5 years’ experience working on electrical placing equipment such as overhead pullers and tensioners, aerial equipment, insulated bucket trucks, and large mobile cranes preferred.
Good welding skills: stick, mig, tig, and gas
Ability to use a wide range of personal hand tools
Able to balance large workloads.
Valid CDL drivers’ license, ability to troubleshoot and diagnose; ability to read and apply electrical & hydraulic schematics; Familiar with methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend and climb stairs/ladders.
Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Able to lift 50 pounds. Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area.
Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.
Required to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines.
Capacity to provide and follow direction.
Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure.
Ability to work extended hours, as required.
Travel to jobsites within 70 miles of main office in Honesdale, PA.
