Heavy Highway / Civil Estimator

Description

Leeward Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Highway / Civil Estimator to join our team in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.

We are looking for an experienced construction professional with a strong background in heavy highway and civil construction estimating and a proven ability to prepare accurate, competitive bids for public and private infrastructure projects.

This position will work closely with company leadership, project management, and field operations throughout the estimating, bidding, and project handoff process.

Responsibilities

  • Review plans, specifications, proposals, and contract documents
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and prepare comprehensive cost estimates
  • Develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor pricing
  • Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
  • Analyze production rates, equipment requirements, and construction methods
  • Identify project risks, opportunities, and constructability concerns
  • Prepare accurate, complete, and competitive bids
  • Participate in bid reviews with company leadership
  • Assist with project handoff following award
  • Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners

Qualifications

  • Previous heavy highway and/or civil construction estimating experience required
  • PennDOT and public works bidding experience strongly preferred
  • Experience estimating paving, excavation, utilities, drainage, concrete, roadway construction, and/or site development
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, production rates, labor, materials, and equipment costs
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Experience with construction estimating software
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
