Home Project AVP Airport Taxiway B Extension
Extending Capability at a Critical Air Hub

Leeward Construction completed the Taxiway B Extension at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, a major infrastructure upgrade designed to enhance airport capacity and safety. The project involved over 965,000 cubic yards of rock excavation and controlled fill to prepare the site for the new taxiway and glide slope antennae.

Crews installed 4,500 linear feet of 60-inch underground storage system along with airfield inlets, lighting, and pavement markings—all while maintaining operations at an active international airport. The scale and complexity of the work demanded precise coordination and execution, and Leeward delivered a smooth, successful outcome built for the future of air travel in Northeast Pennsylvania.
